In a groundbreaking knowledge mobilisation workshop held on the 27th of July 2023, students and faculty members of the Masters Programme in Information Science and Technology at the University of Buea were enlightened on the transformative work of the Digi-CARE consortium. The workshop served as a platform to sensitize attendees about the consortium’s revolutionary approach to controlling re-emerging and emerging infectious diseases using digital one-health solutions. The event also sought to inspire students to delve into pioneering inquiries for their end-of-course projects, fostering a new wave of innovation in the field of healthcare technology.

The workshop commenced with an engaging presentation on the mission and vision of the Digi-CARE consortium, emphasizing its commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology and a One-Health approach to combat infectious diseases effectively. Consortium representatives shared real-life case studies showcasing the impact of technology in early detection, rapid response, and proactive prevention of disease outbreaks in Cameroon.

A key highlight of the workshop was the interactive session that followed the presentation. Students and staff enthusiastically engaged in thoughtful discussions, exploring potential research areas and the transformative potential of digital health innovations. As an environment rich with academic prowess and innovative thinking, the workshop provided the perfect setting for fruitful ideation and collaboration.

Dr. Nkweteyim Denis, a faculty member of the Information Science and Technology program, expressed her excitement about the workshop’s outcomes. “The Digi-CARE consortium’s work is truly groundbreaking. This workshop has inspired our students to envision research projects that align with the consortium’s mission and could potentially make a significant impact on public health in our region,” he remarked.
